In 1865, 250,000 slaves in the state of Texas, the last Confederate state where slaves gained their freedom, were declared free by the U.S. Army. This was a monumental moment for the country, eventually known as Juneteenth Day.
Juneteenth marks our country’s second Independence Day which holds a historical legacy of the value of never giving up hope in uncertain times.
On June 19, 2026 there will be no classes in observance of Juneteenth. Office will remain open from 8:30 am to 5pm.
