July 4th is America’s birthday. The United States will be 240 years old. On this day in 1776, leaders of the 13 British colonies approved the Declaration of independence. There are community picnics and parades in many towns. Some towns have races and contests for children. Community leaders make speeches. People learn stories about American history. Columbia College had a great final presentation by Culinary Arts students last night. It has become our tradition in our kitchen that students make their own recipe and menu based on their learning and present them for the final test. On June 13, to make it even more fun, we set up for a blind tests. Students came up with 17 dishes in total and friends and families were invited to join the event. Columbia College is pleased to welcome Sichuan Association for Non-Governmental Education from China to visit on June 8th, 2017. Columbia College will introduce the trends of vocational education in U.S and the College’s specialized vocational education programs.

Columbia College hosted Open House at Tysons Campus on June 2-3; Silver Spring/ Centreville Campuses on June 1. School introduced various programs, admission process, and career opportunities to prospective students.  Programs include ESL/Online ESL, TOEFL/TESOL, Dental Laboratory Technology, Massage Therapy, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Certificate of Nurse Aide, Computer Science, Business Administration, Teaching English for Early Childhood, and Technical & Business English.  Special treats were enjoyed by visitors; free nail treatment, and chair massage.  Many applicants from multi-national backgrounds participated the event and were excited to experience the campus environment and to adventure their future at Columbia College.
