Inclement Weather Policy

Due to inclement weather or other emergency situations, it may be necessary to close schools for the entire day, to open schools two hours late, or to close two hours early. Keep this information in a convenient location for future reference. As soon as a decision is made, we post the information on our website - www.ccdc.edu. It will have the most up-to-date information about weather closures. Major Classes and Office: Announcements will be made on the local TV News stations(NBC, FOX, and ABC). *In case of power outage due to inclement weather, all three campuses will be closed without announcements.*

Welcome Students Day in Winter session will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Fairfax Campus, Centreville and Maryland Extensions. We will celebrate the beginning of the Winter session; welcome all current students back and especially new students. We also welcome new instructors. We will prepare some cookies and donuts for the students and instructors in front of the ESL office on the second floor. All of the students and instructors will celebrate the new session.

We don't have class next Tuesday, November 11. It's Veterans' Day. Veterans' Day was originally to honor Americans who served in World War I. These days, Veterans Day honors all veterans for their loyalty and willingness to serve in the military and sacrifice for our country. ESL students and teachers celebrated Halloween carving pumpkins with their class mates and the carved pumpkins were displayed to be voted for. As an another event, all the teachers and students dressed up in spooky Halloween costumes and came out of their classrooms for photo time. Afterwards, they all paraded around the campus. Award Ceremony for Halloween Costume Party was held on 13th of November. Abreu, Nicole got the Best Halloween Costume Party Award. She wears scary skull costume.

Daylight Savings Time 2014 Ends This Weekend

The time change is coming up. Don’t worry, though. This one is the cool time change that gives you an extra hour of sleep, unlike its evil, sleep sucking stepsister in Spring. This weekend, at 2:00 AM on November 2th, Daylight Savings Time will end, and revert back to Daylight Standard Time. You’ll need to wind back the clock one hour, going back in time to 1:00 AM.
