Folklife Festival Field Trip

ESL students will go on a field trip to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on July 3rd, 2014. The Festival is held outdoors on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., between the Smithsonian museums. At the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival, you will find many exemplary practitioners of diverse, authentic, living traditions-both old and new. The goal of the Festival is to strengthen and preserve these traditions by presenting them on the National Mall. College Fair was held in Fairfax Campus auditorium on June 24. We had a big turn out of students who learned about many academic programs offered at Columbia College. There were hot dogs and refreshments and well as a raffle drawing for prizes!

Columbia College will have a college fair on June 24th in the auditorium of Fairfax Campus in order to show appreciation for our students, to introduce our degree programs to the students, and to inspire all the students and staff members to have school pride. During the recess, we had an award ceremony for best students who deserved to boast of their perfect attendance and best academic achievement. All other students, teachers, and staff members got together in front of the reception desk to congratulate those who were awarded, giving them a big round of applause. Culinary Arts Program’s ‘Tasty Final Exam’

A Culinary Arts tasting exam event was held at the classroom on Tuesday, May 20th, hosted by students and instructor of CUA252 Advanced Cooking Theory & Practice B. This event was a part of the college’s culinary arts degree program and planned and prepared by the students currently enrolled in the class as part of their final exam for the Session 2014-II.
