Each year, on the 3rd Monday of January, we celebrate his life and his dream. The day was made a national holiday in 1986. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Visit the National Christmas Tree The National Christmas Tree and the Pathway of Peace is illuminated daily at dusk until 11 p.m. Each night in December, musical groups from the Washington, DC area will entertain visitors to the Ellipse. Parking is extremely limited near the National Christmas Tree. All the students and staff at Columbia College had such a wonderful time last Tuesday at our Thanksgiving Potluck. Valerie, one of the best ESL instructors, told us a story about pilgrims and the origin of Thanksgiving, and then Cynthia, one of our intelligent staff, told us about the meaning of Thanksgiving food. After that, we started to enjoy our variety of food. We had turkey, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, green bean casserole, fresh breads and rolls, salads, and other yummy dishes.
